Week 10: April 4

Conduct an interview. Briefly describe your approach, and what you learned from conducting the interview.

You should:

Identify an interesting yet simple research question (which may or may not tie-in to other assignments).  For example: How has a neighborhood changed over the years?

Identify an informant who you can interview to learn more about your question. For example, the person who has run a shop in the neighborhood for a long time.

Think about the best way to approach the subject, and to conduct the interview.  What kinds of questions should you ask?  What topics should you start with?  How open-ended or how focused should your questions be? How will you evaluate the reliability of your informant? How will you present yourself and your project? What is the purpose of the interview?

Describe what you learned from the interview about your question.
